Ashland Railroad Run - From Dad
Saturday, March 15, 2008
Quite a nice run. Perfect temperature and a good number of runners. Well organized and we took off right on time. The race was a loop down one street and back near the railroad tracks. Lots of good enthusiasm. Most of the kids had a parent running with them. I was very proud of both of my boys. This was probably the first miler with no complaints, no walking, and a smart pace setting by both of them.
Afterwards we joined Instructor McGuire at Echo Lake Elementary School. He warmed up (aka worked out) the students before they ran their weekly 1 mile in preparation for the Monument Kids’ run. Inst. McGuire does a great job and the kids & parents loved the workout and teambuilding. I was absolutely amazed that the twins did another mile. James ran well and talked to me the whole way. Ben finished after 4 laps thinking it was a mile. Usually, that would be right. But it was a short track and he had to do another grueling four laps. Not happy but went along again.
The twins were bouncing around before the race running everywhere. They were on top of the world before the race.
